The Pomodoro Technique

Do you ever feel like there just aren't enough hours in the day to get everything done? Between work, family, and other obligations, it can be tough to stay focused and productive - especially in the age of RAPID FIRE CONTENT CREATION.

That's where the Pomodoro Technique comes in. 🍅

The Pomodoro Technique is a time-management method that can help you stay focused and productive throughout the day. It was developed by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s while he was a university student in Rome. Cirillo was struggling to stay focused and productive while studying for his exams, so he decided to experiment with different time-management techniques.  He named the technique that worked the best for him after the tomato-shaped kitchen timer he used to track his work intervals. 

The technique is simple: you break your workday into manageable intervals, or "Pomodoros." A Pomodoro is a 25-minute work interval, followed by a five-minute break. After every fourth Pomodoro, you take a longer break of 15-30 minutes.


How does this translate to movement, you ask? It's actually a perfect match! Whether you're teaching a session or moving yourself, use the following to flow through your hour: 

Spend the first 25 minutes of the session warming up and working through joint mobilizing and body weight/low resistance exercises. 

Spend your 5 minute break in an active breathing practice or dynamic stretch sequence. 

Spend the next 25 adding more resistance & stability challenges to the previous body-weight exercises. 

Spend 5 minutes in an active cool down. 

BOOM - you're a tomato! 

By taking regular breaks, you can give your brain (and body) a chance to rest and recharge. This can help you stay more intentional with your focus throughout your tasks.
