Ep. 28 Making the Tough Calls: When and How to Enforce Boundaries with Clients

Welcome to the JZ Unfiltered podcast, where we focus on helping wellness professionals take care of themselves both in their work and personal lives. In today’s episode, we talk about setting and maintaining boundaries as a way to stay healthy and balanced.

As wellness professionals, we often take on the responsibility of caring for others, and we can sometimes get lost in that role. However, it’s essential for our wellbeing to recognize when we are reaching our limit and need to take a step back. It is okay to say “no” or to make changes for the sake of our own self-care.

Jenna shares a personal story about feeling challenged in maintaining boundaries when a client asked her to babysit. She talks about how this situation revealed how the client had not taken her professional role seriously. Through clear communication, she was able to clarify her role and avoid further confusion.

Boundaries are not just for work either. It is important to recognize when we are compromising our boundaries in our personal lives too. Perhaps we have people in our lives who take too much energy or who consistently make us feel less than our best selves. Reflecting on why those compromises happen will help us gain insight into what behaviors we should and can change.

Remember that we cannot do everything, and that is okay. Setting and maintaining boundaries are important steps in keeping wellness professionals healthy and focused. Listen to the podcast full episode for inspiration about setting stronger boundaries in our lives for a happier you.
